I have many clients who have to pay more for their insurance because of poor health. Some can't buy insurance at 'any' price because of poor health.
Some aspects of our current health have a lot to do with our genetics because of who our parents are. Other aspects of our health have to do with 'what' we did (or didn't do) to keep our health, and some of it is just 'bad' luck.
All you can do is 'your best' from this day forward. Some of the obvious things you can do are;
1) Don't smoke,
2) Get the extra weight off,
3) Drink lots of water,
4) Stay physically active,
5) Maintain a strong network of friends,
6) Sleep 8 hours a day,
7) Laugh often,
8) Pray or meditate daily.
Do 'your part' to get healthy. If someone you love is unhealthy, help them realize that they will most likely live longer and have a much higher quality of life while they are alive if they stay healthy.
