If you need to buy something expensive, it would be best to get a second job for a short time to 'save' up for it. I know that is 'so' old fashioned. However, it offers a huge degree of wisdom that has stood the test of time.
If you need extra income, get a second job, or 'cut' expenses, or sell something. It is very hard to build up savings over the 'long haul.'
The lazy quick fix is seldom the 'right' solution.
By the way, after meeting with me, many people learn that they are doing a lot of the 'right' things with their money. I try to help them do better.
